On Thursday, February 9, 2012, we are holding our biggest charity event called China Care Bruins Awareness Night at the Kerckhoff Hall Grand Salon on the UCLA campus from 6PM to 8:30 PM, in collaboration with the Asian Pacific Coalition at UCLA. APC also acts as the officially recognized voice of API students on campus, working with the Asian American Studies Center and Department, the Undergraduate Students Association, and UCLA administration, as well as other non-API student communities on campus.
We will be facilitating a panel with a diverse array of speakers involved in academia, adoption issues, and the medical field, who will be discussing about how they have worked thus far to provide medical care and counseling to orphans and foster children.
Throughout the event, all monetary proceeds by attendees will be donated to China Care Foundation Inc, a 501c3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to give special needs orphans the opportunity for a better life and to empower youth through direct humanitarian service. This year, we hope to help Qiang, a three year old boy who was born with a spina bifida. He has already undergone some surgery, but is still in need of more medical attention for him to fully recover.
